Josefina Clarivel and Miguel Manzueta have been chosen to receive the “Neighborly Award” for 2018 in memory of Dr. Joe Robinette.
Josefina Clarivel Manzueta logged over 300 hours of volunteering in just a couple of years before she was hired as Clinic Coordinator in the fall of 2017. Passionate about providing excellent care to each and every individual no matter the background, story, or circumstances. Clarivel has brought a warm spirit of compassion and service to Neighborhood Clinic well before she became a paid staff member. Clarivel, affectionately called “Jo” by some volunteers, has helped transform the volunteer experience by celebrating learning, maximizing volunteer resources, and keenly creating excellent team dynamics for the most efficient and well-integrated work flow. Every volunteer who knew the clinic before she was hired came back saying “wow”, impressed by her superb management, kind hospitality, and humble service. Clarivel is the first to scrub the toilets, and the last to lock the door, making sure every patient, volunteer and staff has a top-notch experience.
Miguel Manzueta, Clarivel’s husband, is similarly compassionate, industrious and generous. He has donated hours and hours of personal service on his days off and on the weekends, fixing furniture, painting old walls, buying clinic maintenance supplies, and even installing a new lock on our supply closet door. Quick to offer a helping hand and never seeking public acknowledgement, Miguel, I am sure, has given much more than we even know.
Both Clarivel and Miguel will receive an honorarium of which half is to be used for a special need in the clinic and the other half given in their name to a local charity of their choice, thus being called the “Neighborly Award.” We are truly grateful for you both for how you have touched the lives of our patients in such a positive way….as well as our lives….as well as our community.
